What's happening on ebay with this Jag?

This XKR was for sale recently - went for £6.4k - quite cheap.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200960877739

Shortly after the end of the sale the same car (obviously) comes up for sale at pretty much the same location although the contact details are different.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310746137156

The style in writing and pictures is similar.

They both have positive feedback, but what's going on? Is this just a way around the no reserve, in which case, why not just put a reserve on it?

Probably on the first listing he never really got what he wanted and withdrew the car at the last moment or if someone he knew was helping to bid on it he pulled it from ebay saying no longer available ….

Plus if he were to put a reserve on it , it would be more fees he would have been charged once sold

Theres no law against having two separate ebay accounts listed under pseudonym's Whistle Whistle

Or a scam …

Just on the first listing it says 'winning bid' not 'withdrawn'.

Well I think this page tells you the answer:

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...&aid=i***l&eu=&bidtid=934484450010&view=NONE&ssPageName=PageBidderProfileViewBids_None_ViewLink

He's bumping up the price of his own cars by bidding on them with another ID. Notice how the bids are all in vehicle categories against "Seller 1". The seller isn't revealed but you can tell who it is because only one seller is listed and we know that bidder has bid against the seller of the Jag. That's why the winning bidder has not bought the car, because he's the seller - he pushed it one bid too far. Serves him right.

For the second auction the bids are private so you can't tell. No doubt because someone complained.

Ebay is full of cheating scumbags.

Edit: I've mucked up the link, but to get to the page I'm referring to, look at the bids page and then click the winning bidder at the top of the bid list. It takes you to a page that shows the bidders recent activity.

Hmm - glad I didn't bid now. Don't like to deal with people like that. To be honest, I think I've seen this Jag a few times on the second account, which renders all the sales talk completely bogus.

He must be raking up the ebay fees though - or does he say the sale never completed? I don't know, I've never sold anything on ebay - only bought.

Well, with 2 hrs to go he's well up on the previous auction - now £7.1k. Unless it's him bidding against himself again.

He'll be getting a 'friend' to run up the bidding. Common practice I believe. His friend will win and then the sale with be cancelled. All legit and no one losing out.

Went for nearly £2k more than last time - if indeed it was a genuine buyer this time.

I'd say, if you want it, keep bidding till it hits the price you want to pay and then stop (stay on the low side). If it is overbid by friends of him to jack up the price, don't step in. Wait for the auction to end and see if he contacts you Smile Then just tell him what your best price is and see if he wants to play ball. And if he is screwing around, just forward the emails to Ebay Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'm not bidding Eugene. I keep an eye on the prices and if a good deal for an XKR comes up I might bid on it, but not from a dodgy seller pulling a load of tricks.

Interesting to watch his modus operandi though.
