2004 non touch screen, digital tv options

As title suggests, I have an 04 non touch screen.

The sat nav unit is missing as was broke and previous keeper had mislaid it! It's a vogue and has DSP

I want to get tv on the move and digital tv for my little one so I get some peace when driving.

Will an eBay 12v digital tuner for £50 work or is it more complex than that.

What are my options chaps

Thanks in advance.

Digital TV will not be very good whilst driving, reception will drop in and out.

You may be better off getting a tablet and headrest holder with some headphones, and playback recorded TV etc.

You could set up a standalone RSE solution, with PC or DVD or playstation.

Check with Baris LR and BMW A/V guru, who was offering a digital tv solution for the FFRR. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

As above contact Baris on the forum he will convert your existing analogue tv unit to digital email....xkalibar@gmail.com.
I had mine done, excellent result. Gives tv on the move.
If you want to re-instate your sat nav I have a spare working Mark 3 unit available. The Mark 3 unit was the original unit but you can also upgrade to a Mark 4 unit at further significant cost.

What's the cost of getting the analogue unit upgraded.
How do you change channel when it goes digital

The cost you should discuss with Baris. Thumbs Up
You change channel by remote control.
The modification Baris provides includes the remote and an infra-red sensor and cable you install in the car.
My sensor is located in the top left corner of the screen with the cable totally concealed behind the headlining running to the back of the car and then down behind the rear pillar trim.
He also provides two aerials to mount in the rear side windows which are a significant improvement over the original LR aerials. So much so that I can get video or Freeview radio on the move without the picture dropping out.
I have travelled 120miles and it never dropped out once, so I was told.
Needless to say I don't watch tv on the move but the option of 40 odd additional radio stations is nice to have, even though a lot are rubbish imo. Thumbs Up

I've just fitted a unit that I bought off eBay two years ago and never got round to fitting. It works ok but the remote control has to be able to see the unit so it can't be stowed away in the side cupboards. I fired it up and left it on the parcel shelf to test and it worked fine. Aerial is a little magnetic thingy that you stick on the roof. Tried it on the car park at work and the picture pixelates slightly on the move but no loss of sound.

I intend to get the Baris upgrade when funds permit.
