Remaps & Warranties

Gents, apologies if this is going over old ground - esp. in regard of the Stickie Post on the matter.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with my TD6. It does the job - and there is enough power when required - but it seems to make hard work of it. It has to work hard to deliver and as a result is a little noisy and unrefined.

So - the remap is obvious answer - at least, I think so. I know a couple of you have had it done - and wondered if you'd report back ? I'm not actually in need of more power - just the delivery of it with a bit more grace.

The second issue of course is that of Warranty. At the time of writing I've 11 months left ! Accepting that it would void that.......my gut says it's something I shouldn't just throw away.

So my question is, come service time, (or should i need warranty work) - will they actually check for this ? is it immediatley obvious to a dealer that its' been done ? Are there stealth options ?

I'd really love to have this done - but maybe i have to bite the bullet and wait a year

thanks all.

JJ

You have 2 options:

1 - Software re-map - Could get wiped by stealers, unless you tell them, then byebye warrenty - No doubt Adam (RRUK) will advise

2 - Plug in version, Like mine, then you can take it out when it goes to the dealers

I'm interested in doing this as well. I was told about a company called Viezu Technologies who have a branch near to me in Bromsgrove. A mate of mine had his 335d BMW done there and he reckons its awesome now.

A TD6 will have a 40bhp increase according to their site.

Anyone had any dealings with them? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I couldn't live with my old TD6 either, found it way too underpowered for my driving style.

The only problem with the plug in boxes are, they add extra fuel pressure to an already high pressure system. I've a friend who put a tuning box on their TD6 and blew the fuel pumps (£1000 to fix). I think remap is the safer and better performing option generally.

I have had a number of Land Rover's and Range Rovers remapped and intercoolers changed.

Never had any warranty issues despite many drive chain problems in the Range Rover that have resulted in factory engineers assessing the car to diagnose a fault (transfer gearbox)

The dealer were aware of the chip but got authorisation to repair.

Paul, i'm shocked that your dealer honoured a repair on a chipped LR. These days it's any excuse to get out of spending money on a warranty repair........
