Anyone know who's cheapest for 255 50 20 Vredestein Wintrac

As title really, looking at swapping my Yokohamas for them when I do my suspension and wheel alignment.

I've googled the usual suspects, just interested in case anyone knows better.

Thumbs Up

Great, great tyres, I have used them successfully for 3/4 years on many different cars.

I buy from Hawleys in Sheffield, but thats cos I live there ! they might do mail order......

I just bought some Wintracs for my wife's ML (255 50 19) and found them on OPONEO, which were considerably cheaper than anywhere else I tried. RR size here:

Gotta say you should try AJS tyres who sponsor here as well incase they can do a deal on a set of 4 delivered but the openeo deal i dont know how they are selling them for £218 a piece! £872 for a full set is £156 cheaper than most places and some even more as I've seen £320 per tyre before now! Plus the longer you leave it the higher the price as demand goes up and stock drops off very quickly in that size. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Its purely demand for them Jim.

Plus they dont do large shipments to this country from what i've read about online.

If you had the dosh and drove a van over to germany and filled it up with them as part of a holiday you could make a small fortune from them over here! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Camskill are always a good place to look but the Wintracs are more expensive than Oponeo.

One thing to note is the trye Date Code and Oponeo do have a 'disclaimer' on their site regarding the tyre age which makes me wonder how many times an 'out of date' shipment is sent. If you weren't aware of this little detail then on the face of it you get a bargain but not sure if I'd be happy running around in a heavy car with 'old new' tyres. Plus Oponeo are not a UK company.

Same issue with Ebay stuff being sold as brand new. Have a few stories there. When you question and dig deep the answers to your questions don't come willingly mainly because it's old stock. Easy to get tucked up and again it's a heavy car to be taking chances with the only items in contact with the road. Just my view.

Andy

I just checked the date stamp on the Wintracs I got from Oponeo yeterday and they were manufactured last year - I must admit its the first time i have ever checked when a tyre was made!

TBH last year isn't too bad considering the stock level of them in the UK.

There have been reports from the disco forum of a seller selling pirelli scorps that were 3-4yrs old... New stock but classed as New Old Stock... Citroen do this a lot with parts but they are often vacum sealed in dry dark warehouses for the likes of 10+years lol FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

We had a few "unexpected" tyre blow outs here (one on third mainland bridge at "high" speed). So we investigated the tyres and noticed the year of manufacturing was carefully "changed out". After checking all our cars we found close to 20 tyres like this.

Needless to say we don't buy them "on the market" anymore and each tyre is checked for manufacturing year Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
