Iidtool

Hi I am taking the plunge today and buying the Iidtool but not the Bluetooth version it's not worth paying a lot more for the Bluetooth feature. I am just curious how easy is it to update also when will the ecu update be implemented?

For the update it's really easy:

Email notification of new release- Download updater- plug into computer (PC or MAC both OK) SW updater finds the tool; sends update. Done.
Thumbs Up

It is definitely a hell of a lot cheaper than the Faultmate (1500 Euro including an old Panasonic Toughbook (175E) and you can add a BT module to run it on a standard laptop).

I think once they have the ECU update feature, complete with the latest LR files they are the best system on the market, mainly due to their customer service quality. Although I can not complain about the support from BBS, all my problems (not many to be honest) have been addressed, it can take a long time for certain issues to be resolved. For me the ECU feature was important and also I hadn't heard of the IID tool anyway because I hadn't joined the forum yet.

So my suggestion is, go for the IID and hope the ECU flash feature is there soon. In the meantime, you can get the ECU reflashes done through one of the forum guys (suggest to bring plenty of those fresh cakes) or Craig or a nice indie that has the right equipment and software. Or find a nice dealer that doesn't screw you over for something that takes maybe 1 1/2 to 2 hours max. My ECUs were updated in about 20 minutes each, only requirement is the temperature of the gearbox ECU can't be too high, so the car has to cool down enough before you do it. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
