^ ASL from handbook:

When ASL is selected and a set speed inserted, the engine will respond normally up to the set speed. Further accelerator pedal pressure will not increase the vehicle speed beyond your set speed, unless kick down is initiated, in which case ASL will be suspended.

It's like any tech that's new. Takes a while to get into it's stride and lr have only been doing it a few years at best Wink

Nick, I'm with you. No likey.

Have just driven a 2010 to Sussex and back and I found it quite dangerous as it makes judging relative speeds harder by constantly changing.

Eg if I am in the inside lane of the motorway doing the speed limit (ahem) and someone is sitting in the middle lane going slower, what I found was as I pulled out and made to move to the outside lane (possibly with some cars in that lane but still far enough behind me to do so safely) the car would decelerate as I pulled out to the middle lane and would lose momentum and any lead over cars in the outside lane - meaning I had to manually accelerate to get back the speed and maintain a safe pulling out manoeuvre.

This meant that I had to pull out way in advance to stop it functioning. Also it kicked down every time to get back up to speed which was annoying.

I acknowledge that it is a nice feature and if you are worried about getting too close then it is for you. But I am lucky enough to be a good judge of distances and speed and prefer to have my own control over the machine. Possibly as I get older I may want to use it Rolling with laughter

I thought it was only me! The scenario you describe is exactly what is frustrating about it. I've switched off the forward alert, the high beam assist and would love to switch off the ACC for conventional cruise as they are all slightly slow or easily fooled to be of use to an aware driver. With the HBA I can see oncoming drivers before they come around the corner and dip the lights in good time. HBA waits until you are blinding them. If the windscreen sensor is dirty the HBA fails to detect oncoming traffic so you are back to manual anyway.

When it snowed, lightly, shortly after I got the L405 I had messages in the dash telling me that the radar was compromised and the emergency braking features no longer available. Useful?

It is this sort of problem that is the biggest barrier to the autonomous vehicles that Merc, Volvo and Google are developing. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

The other bit tied in with it is the emergency brake assist, annoying sometimes if someone pulls out of a side road in front of you it gives you a warning then applies the brakes and as someone who had a plank do it while I was in a doomed and cursed rrs it saved a poor little micra from being splatted due to their own stupidity Censored FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
