Go back and say it was not like that before they washed it.

They managed to stripe the tailgate with the lance last time it was at the dealers. I'd rather they didn't touch the car more than is necessary. |

I was going to post this today. Mine came back with swirl marks and looked like Tony Montana had brushed past it with some of Colombia's finest. So now the paint looks worse than it did before it was keyed. Grrrr |

If you go to the detailing world forum they have A4 size 'Do not wash' notices you can print off and put in your car. Some dealerships take notice of them but some don't. On a previous Disco I owned I never let it be washed by the dealership. They have no concept of the damage a sponge can do! |

If you are remotely interested in the appearance of your car then don't even consider letting dealerships wash them. They are usually done by the most junior person on the site with a jet wash and an assortment of dirty and warn out brushes, sponges and cloths. The worst damage is caused by the gritty jet wash pipe that lies on the ground being dragged across your paintwork by someone who doesn't care less. Also if you have put any effort into waxing your car with a good quality wax you can bet whatever they use to wash your car will strip this straight off. I had experience of an Audi dealer who put cars through the mechanical car wash at the adjacent Esso garage! |

Stopped letting them wash my car when I had a p38 and they put wet mats in the car. Tore a few strips off the garage general manager as I didn't really want water getting into the BECM.

I'm into my detailing and always hand wash my car. Two bucket method, dry with microfibre cloths and then spritz off with a quick detailer for a final finish.

As a relatively new owner of a FFRR I've not had the pleasure of letting the main dealer loose on our car.

Dropped of the (professionally polished and Gtechniced) Java black TDV8 Vogue to the LR dealership and specifically asked them NOT to wash it.

Mefster, I've been told by my own detailed that LR paint is quite thin compared to the German stuff. It's also quite sticky. I'm not sure what that means but apparently it's quite tough on the polishing pads. |
