ZF 6HP26 Oil and Filter Change

Planning on doing a fluid and filter change on my 07SC (64k)

Watched a vid on YT (same GB but on a jag) and read the guides on how to do it correctly .... are there any pitfalls when doing it? I assume its reasonably easy to do, keen to hear views from anyone who has done it.

Not looked under a FF, on the D3/D4 & RRS the cross member is in the way so on those it is easier to break off the one piece plastic sump/filter and replace with the BMW metal sump and separate filter. The majority of your oil can not be drained from the sump though as it stays in the torque converter, so your options are:

1) Multiple oil changes to renew as much as you can
2) Flush through from the oil cooler pipes with the engine running and selecting through the gears, I believe you would need to cut into the pipes on your model though and then use a joiner to put back together.

We stock both types of sump, ZF do not recommend the BMW metal pan as it was never designed for Land Rover however many opt for it. Paul Redding
