Hi. Thank you for your reply. I have some pictures but not sure how post them as im new to this site. At a first glance underneath the sump is covered in oil but not dripping badly. The oil look more fresh at the bottom so could it be possible it may be flicking up the engine while driving. It is a 2002 86000k on the clock. No warrenty. |

Hi stan. Yeah funny enough i double checked oil cap lastnight and i noticed the rubber seal was not sitting in the cap all the way round but i dont think thats the problem. Could the oil run to the back of engine then right round the back to the nearside. Theres no oil on the offside of engine. |

if there is a leak then the oil source could come from anywhere , normally behind a panel or hidden behind other parts ..

most likely rocker covers. There always leaking. The gasket has a big lobe on the back which needs a sealant on it and is one of the usual points they leak. Get some degreaser and give it a good clean then monitor for the leak. Keep an eye your oil level while your tracking it down. I've done a write up on changing the gaskets that's I the wiki. is got pics which show the gasket lobes I'm talking about. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

update on oil leak. apparently the dick brain at the garage seems to think it could be leaking from the steering rack or could be leaking at the back of one of the heads. but he's not 100% sure. hang on!! the oil is not creamy. the coolent looks fine, its driving perfect like it has been since i noticed the leak on saturday, and not over heating, plus is steering fluid red??. so now i have gave it to a friend and he's going to jet wash the hole engine to try n find sum answers. god help me!!
