England 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver
New Sat Nav CD/DVD

Hi all,

I'm new here so go easy on me please.
Yesterday I purchased a Range Rover Vogue on a 52 plate. Being one of the early models I find the sat nav a bit dated. If I was to buy the latest sat nav disc, would it work in my RR? Would I get all the new features i.e. post code etc. Is the new sat nav disc on DVD or CD and if it is DVD would it play in my disc player?

Questions, questions! can anyone help please.

Phil

You need to upgrade to a MKIII DVD Sat Nav to use the DVD (Availbale from BMW). The newest non-DVD one is about 2004 AFAIK and does have Postcode (basic) entry.

Thrasher... the DVD unit is the Mark IV (4 to non-romans! Laughing )

I have the Mk 4 DVD unit and it is much improved , I also upgraded the splash screen and the software so its as new looking user interface as I'm likely to get.

I did mine as the MkIII died.

Ebay around £250 - £350 depending on your luck , I paid more from a dealer but did get a 2010 DVD map disk.

The CD Map disk will work , but you will be confined to the maps on that disk.. e.g. UK and Ireland. The DVD covers Europe which is handy for us as we Caravan across Europe. Not a biggie but saves faffing about at border crossings swapping disks and setting new destinations.

On the bright side you will have a working MkIIII to sell where as I had to stump up the lot and drop my old MkIII in the bin Big Cry

Love the price!
Does it give you extra features like postcode input and 3D view or is it just updated maps?

Just an up to date disc unfortunatley, think you need to upgrade to the DVD system for postcode input and 3D view. Could always just buy a TomTom Wink 2005 Audi A8 W12

This might be a stupid question, but can you retro fit the 2005+ touch screen system into a pre-2005 car?

As far as I know the entire control system changed, moving to MOST (a Ford based system) when the new touch screen came in to being.....

Of course it is probably possible, but might be more work than it is worth!
