I have been warned by the local police officers that from 1st November 08 that anyone who does not have the REGULATION FONT on their Number Plates ( DEPENDING ON THE MOOD OF THE COPPER THAT STOPS YOU ) will be fined on the spot or in some case's points added to your licence, even if you have your name on the plate under the reggie number is considered illegal as well.

The Daughter was stopped in her Merc CLK 200 by two coppers and was told to get the font changed ( which was not really anything fancy ) and was told that if she was stopped again she could have her licence endorsed with points or possibly an on the spot fine.

Maybe they were being a bit over zealous, Trying to show their authority to a young girl plus they were not traffic cops just beat cops when they stopped her at 5am.

It's mostly down to the Copper that stops you. Ken could be stopped for having black and silver plates because his registration is not pre 1973, did it stop him? No.

We are also having to remove the LR logo from our plates. I am led to believe that we can still display 'Charles Hurst - Park Royal' however I'll need to check with our Parts Manager.

I was informed that the company that makes up the plates can put their name ie: ( Charles Hurst Park Royal )still at the bottom because they in turn will have to register that they made the plates for the vehicle.

Any plates made legally now must have, & can only have the registered numberplate suppliers name & his postcode only, no logos or anything else except the E mark.

It is usually dealt with by a £30 fixed penalty. althought the fine can be a maximum of £1000 & withdrawal of the number. I have not heard of an penalty points being issued.
