eBay: A festival of funny buyers!

As you know I'm very reluctantly selling my FF, and have listed it on eBay. The listing ended today and the car didn't sell, but I'm happy to play the long game.

Gaz sent me the following valuation:

Franchised Dealer £21,415
Independent Dealer £20,490
Private Good £19,110

... so I listed the car at £19,500 and set a Buy It Now Price a bit lower than the £19,500. I ran the classified listing for 10 days, had 8 watchers, and some amazing enquiries and offers...

From the same eBayer I had offers of.... £5000, £5001, £5500 and £6001. He/she then offered me £10,001 at the end.

I also had the usual pirates pretending to be buying for someone overseas etc (reported and busted!)

But the best one was a bloke who messaged me asking if I'd be interested in Cash plus part exchange. Here's what he offered:

W Reg Isuzu Trooper ("mainly used for moving dogs around, and some tip runs, but didn't have any rubbish in it that made it smell".
A Honda lawn mower ("works well, but needs blades sharpening"
And wait for it... £3000 cash.

Honestly I thought it was one of my friends winding me up, but as we swapped messages it became clear that this chap was serious. I honestly didn't know how else to turn him down nicely!

The car is re-listed for another 5 days so let's see what hilarity ensues now.

There are some real tw@'s using auction sites.

Anyway, swap you for a nice pair of trainers (size 9), unfortunately one with the shoe lace missing, and a go with the wife.

Unfortunately, I have no wife, so it'll be me in a dress.

ha ha! sounds like a great deal and one I should consider.

I have considered, and I'm sorry, but it's a "no". *does Simon Cowell face* - Ad augusta per angusta -

£19500.00 sounds a touch pricey. Just my opinion.

Can get this with deployable side steps for a lot less....

Tempted myself.

I have always had good luck selling my cars on eBay. They all sell eventually, it all comes down to price.
I think it's ok for people to chance their arm, if it is indeed a genuine offer. For all they know, you could be so desperate to sell you might take their silly offer. The bids that annoy me are the ones that are so close it makes you think maybe you should take it.. Good luck Thumbs Up

Edit... Right, this is my opinion and in no way meant to offend. Just read your advert... It's terrible.
You mention the cost of the commute is prohibitive, that means you need to save money which will get low offers.
If the dent is gone why tell people?! Smallish scratches, wear and tear, needs a new this/that.... I'll bet the car is normal condition for its age, don't be over the top honest. I would have a completely new advert in today if it was me.
Please don't get touchy about my views, I really am trying to help Thumbs Up Previously..
