Is it the plastic intake tube you're seeing near the rad? It's two jubilee clips and a tight fit pcv return hose. Easily removed, bit of a to get back on. You can do the belts with this removed and it's not torque sensitive when you put it back on. You can remove the intake plenum but that's a bit of a sod and not necessary. Be prepared to skin knuckles doing it though ...

You have to unbolt the radiator and remove the viscous fan to do the belts. It's an arse but once done the belts are quite easy.
