Rare car breaking

Well i bought this beauty recently for a massive sum of money and spent about 9 hours all in fetching it from kilmarnock!

Just after a quick 10min wash it got poo'd on!

After a good poke around i made a tough call that it wasn't worth saving. There was a lot more rot than the MOT had picked up on and one sill was totally gone, both outter & inner and the other wasnt far behind. Both C pillar bottoms(just above rear light units) were rusty, the engine had a camcover leak which means cambelt change, which means water pump change as well so about £350 for the rust and at least £300 for the cambelt, plus it needed new spheres at the rear(4*£30) and a new one up front, exhaust was rusty but was just a clamp that had gone and it had already done 176k so wasn't going to be worth much at the end of the day anyway.

So this weekend me a few FCF members set to it! from 9-1 on sunday the engine was ripped out, the interior stripped out and any part that is unique to this version worth saving at all has been saved.

The wishbones have gone to a member who will refurb them and swap them into his xantias before then selling refurb exchange units on to help others out.

Engine is to go in an RX8
Gearbox is going to be stripped and prepped ready to save another unit
Hydractive blocks saved for 2 other vehicles with iffy ones
Front strut assemblies to go on another vehicle
AC condenser and fan pack to help another with AC issues
Leather interior is upgrading a lower spec SX model
Alloys with great tyres to help allow another member refurb and save his alloys
hieght correctors to be refurbed and help others
exhaust is going to be used to make a pattern from stainless for members as they are circa £800 IIRC for an OE one!
Switches and relays have been saved for saving others in the future
cruise control to help others as well
Wings went out as sheet metal
window motors saved for 2 other cars
sunroof for another as well
some niggly connectors helping others out
the boot floor soundproofing will be a new car working mat for me for as long as it lasts and has provided 2 head sized squares as well for working under cars Smile
AC compressor is helping another one

All lights and some other bits are stored in my garage as well as no doubt they will be wanted by someone, and hoping to get the bonnet off when she goes as its in great physical condition but needs a respray where it looks like a brillo has attacked it!

More pics here for people.

Only been there since Sunday afternoon and hoping to get a few tiny bits off it and then call a breaker in to come fetch it but the vin plate, vin on the chassis and other bits have been removed to make sure it doesnt get re-used in any dodgey way and the plates have come off it as well. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I honestly had bought it and wanted to repair the rust and oil leak but when i started finding more and more it was just pointless and its not gone to the crusher, i saved a few cars with it, just like the saab scrapping saved 3 or more saabs Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

No, no, no. What would the neighbours think? To have a half car in front of the house, it MUST be on concrete blocks. Plant some weeds around it. You'll want to accessorize with a few large, non-functional appliances...

Seriously, well done reusing so much of the car. Perfect recycling. I'm surprised it was beyond saving given it looked quite nice in the 'before' photo.
