2004 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Battery drain Electric Seats, Windows, Cabin lights etc

Hi

About a L322 2004 4.4

How much playing around with the Electric seats, Windows, Cabin lights, Folding mirrors, Radio etc while not running would drain the battery so much that the car can't start ? - 10, 20, 30 min or more?

Input appreciated

I see

After a week of sitting in the garage, I'm able to start the car but only if I don't have an extended play with the electrics.. Otherwise car won't start without a jump

Also, I'm able to start once fine, but if its just left to idle and turned off, I won't be able to start again without a jump start

Wondering if its just in need of a new battery or if there is a drain somewhere

No idea how old the battery is. Do they have manufacture dates stamped?

FF's are very electricity-intensive, so you're better off switching the engine on if you're planning on using the electrics for those periods of time.

It never hurts to change the battery if you're unsure. They don't normally like being flattened on deep-cycle routines like that and will tend to hold a full charge for less time afterwards. Si. <This is my name.

Multimeters are pretty cheap and easy to use, get yourself one and measure the battery voltage.

Multimeter is deffo the way! Without one I would never have found the root cause of my battery drain problem.

I left my drivers door open for 1 minute and that took enough juice out of the already poorly charged battery to prevent it starting.

Before splashing out on a new one, you could always get the battery checked out at an auto-electrician. They usually charge less than a tenner. And you'll need a really good quality battery on an FFRR to cope with all the electrics! Thumbs Up Cheers
