I am not 100% sure, but I believe that there are 2 versions of the rain sensor for the BMW RRs: w/light sensor and w/o.

Maybe someone can go through microcat...

I believe there are 3 modules available. Auto light or auto rain wipers or both.

My 54 Plate Vogue came with neither so I did the upgrade and fitted the sensor with both along with an upgraded Light control module and new screen with the sensor magnifier built in. Ash

There are modules you can get on the bay for about £20 that link to the folding button wire and the central locking wiring to fold when you lock. Not sure how easy the wiring is to do. Tom

I have looked into fitting one of these "universal" door-mirror fold modules to fit to a non-touch screen vehicle.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Univer...5d31ffcbd5

E mailed the supplier / installer regarding use on such cars only to receive the following reply,

"Hi, this will not be any good for you, because your mirrors are controlled by
CAN. it maybe possible to connect direct to the mirror motors, but 1st you would have to find out if they run on 12v."

Looks like it is a no go without extensive work.
Not quite "universal" then. Very Happy

As stated above - it is easily achievable with the intravee II. I have it on mine and there are various settings you can have.

with key out, with door close, with lock etc.. and the same in reverse for unfolding. (mine are set to key out). The intravee II is around £150. It will give you iPod connectivity retaining the steering wheel buttons to control the iPod, Bluetooth pairing if you have the phone kit and various other setting like mirror folding etc, DLR (daylight running light settings), etc

And Rich - There are 3 sensors available - one for lights, one for rain and one for both. mine had none so I fitted the dual version and got a new light switch that has the auto setting. Ash

I just use my finger and press the button to open or fold the mirrors as required. It's very old tech but it works.
