How to avoid paying for parking

I've used three methods for avoiding paying for parking, and they're vehicule dependent.

Method one is applicable if you're on a motorcycle. Just drive round the barrier, there's almost always space and I've done this many times.

Method two is applicable for very low sports cars, like my VX220. Drive under the barrier. I've done this a couple of times, even when I've already paid for the ticket because a) it's a laugh. b) I have a RHD car and reaching for the machine in a LHD country is a pain.

Now you're probably thinking method three is applicable to the Range Rover, but are wondering how? Well, you simply off road out of the car park. I've done this once. I wish I'd kept the ticket just to put it in the machine a year later and see what the bill would be. It doesn't work in every car park, for instance in underground car parks or multi-story.

Method 4, in James Bond style speedily drive off the roof of a multi story car park and land in the street/shop below. Keep some T-Cut or similar in the glovebox. Tom

A Paisley taxi driver was found to be tailgating the car in front whilst leaving the airport, security checked back and found he had been doing it for over a year and calculated he owed them £2k in parking...

I almost always do pay. I don't think bikes should have to pay though, and I hate going to a shop, buy a load of stuff and then still be expected to pay for the parking.

£38 for 7hours there the last time i had to park in it Sad

TBH with an FF if you park on a grass hill or the like your not technically in the car park or a car parking space so should get it for free Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Many years ago, downtown Toronto sidewalks (=pavement, UK readers) were littered with new Ford cars, all with large 'quality is job #1' signs. I often thought that parking a new, clean Ford anywhere downtown, with one's own logo sign on top would probably work very well. Mr. Green well, except for the torture of having to drive a US Ford. I guess it's not worth it after all.

one thing that has baffled me is why London doesnt have a 'park and ride'...from my direction you could park up near heston services M4 and then catch a tube into the centre, now this would relieve congestion.... ... - .- -.

They'd have to pay me lots more than £2 to spend 4 hours in Swindon. Rolling with laughter
