diy reverse camera for most touchscreen

so it seems there's no easy way to buy a plug and play reverse camera for the most system, I have read people stripping wires and it costing over 400 for a reverse camera. then you have to get it enabled on the system some how...

I don't have a dvd player or satnav installed either.

so it seems the most system is one of the worst to get add ons for. Big Cry

so my idea is either:

get one of those camera connected to rear view mirror, it shows a video on the right of the mirror. pick them up for 50-100 however they seem to have wires everywhere.

<-- this sort of thing

or I have a 3gs in the draw at home and considered taking it apart and wondered if I could get a thin wire connecting the camera to the phone from the dash to the back window, or you cant use the camera via Bluetooth from my iphone 5 on an app called "camera for my ipod touch"

or does someone have an easy solution for me? (other than getting a whole new tocuchscreen or learn how to reverse)

this has been talked about alot and there isnt an easy solution..quite a few ranges with the touch screen nav which were built late 54 reg to around late 05 reg had no reverse camera so its only a comparative small amount of vehicles that suffer with this... ... - .- -.

My 54 plate 2005 touchescreen model (pre facelift) does not have a camera, but I have enabled the rear camera mode using the IID tool, all I need to do now is plug in a camera and split the power from the reverse lights.

I don't think it will be that major a job, just the hassle of taking the dash up and spoiler off. Tom

Its not as simple as that.

You also need the front entertainment module updated to a later firmware.

I haven't got round to getting this done yet.
