high miler tdv8

Im tepted to jump back into a FF with a tdv8 2009 with 148k miles cuming up at auction.

Should I be worried or is this a good opportunity?

It's CAPing at 14k according to the auction house but it has no resrve so may go for much less?

worth a punt? anything i should look out for? Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

Whats its history like?
How many owners?

Are you banking on a full fluids service when you buy it?

Have you had a chance to run over it?

it could well be a bargain and would bet it would sell for more like £12-13 really in the current climate and with those miles it will put a lot off so odds on it could be a bargain! even if rough you could sell it on for a profit Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

it should have around 10 services for 148k miles based on 15k service intervals - looks like somebody has been skimping a little.

5 stamps - that equates to 1 service every 30k - far too little 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

my last SC was serviced every 20-25k? i thought the service intervals were long?

i suppose its worth a look...the car is part of a fleet sale so would have assumed for leasing purposes regualr on time servicing would have been part of the deal?

if they have been missing servicing then its not a good start but i suppose it will show when i see it in person.

Anyone got prices on consumables for the tdv8 brake pads, ball joints typical parts that need doing....its been a few years Smile Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

my main agent says minimum 12 months or 15k miles. or sooner if the indicator comes on due to harder driving.

Plenty on the forum fairly recently re service intervals if you do a search. Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

It has probably built up those miles at 70mph on the Motorway which is good news for the motor. Services have been based on "Every 12 Months" rather than 12 month or 15000 miles whichever comes first.

I very much doubt that modern synthetic oil wil have degraded much due to the excess miles though. If cheap enough I would buy it. Thumbs Up

I thought it was 12 months or service indicator based? I'm pretty sure in the manual it says "when the car requests it" rather than a set interval of miles?

what constitutes "high miles" modern engines are built to last a life time if looked after..
i do an oil & filter change every 4 months...the old oil is good enought to put in my work transit van and paint my fences....works out relativly cheap (2 motors for 1).... Thumbs Up free use of "RSW" all comms to anyone nearby

Had a look at the car jury's out...it's rough...

Bonnet needs done, front bumper and tailgate has excessive rust...shocking for an 09 car.

If it doesn't go ill bid 10k for it Smile Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

No chance it's CAP here at 14k in its current condition. Will also have limited appeal for retail too soo let's see. Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006
