Whilst getting to know my car I came across some vents in the right front wheel arch liner. Looking through them I see what looks like a radiator. Mine is heavily clogged with dirt so plan to have my local dealer clean it out when they'll have my car in June for some other work.

My question is, does anyone know what this radiator is for? Mine being clogger I'm concerned what the potential consequences may be. 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11

Fuel burning heater? Tho that's passenger side on mine. Does RAVE cover your year and model? If so, search on here and download. Should show u exactly what it is

I think it's an oil cooler for either the transmission or engine oil if I remember rightly. You definitely want to clean it, a gentle soaking with some degreaser followed by a hose down shoud be enough.

Yep, its the transmission oil cooler.

Mine had a dead bird wedged in it, the feathers basically covering the face of it! Discovery 4 HSE

On the SC the cooler on the right hand side (UK driver side) is the engine oil cooler by the way. I haven't looked for the TDV 8, sorry.

You can pop the grille out that sits in front of it in the lower valance in seconds, then you've got access to get your hand up the front of it to clear it out.

Ebajema, it could well be the same part, maybe it's not the trans cooler?

Either way, if it's blocked it needs clearing. Discovery 4 HSE

Just had a quick look at the workshop manual and it looks like it is the additional engine cooler. So it has coolant going through, not oil like the SC.

The transmission oil cooler is the same as for all the ZF 6HP26 boxes by the looks of it. The same one that failed on my car  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Yes, I think that's what it is, an additional engine cooler radiator. Item 2 in this pic..
