United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

In this case, I wouldnt let the number of pixels be a deciding factor. Both cameras will perform very well. The quality of the lens sat in front of the body is massively more important (perhaps put the extra £100 towards another lens?)

My pixels post was a more general lament on how manufacturers have been lead by 'easy' marketing opportunities and have prioritised increasing pixel count, missing the opportunity to cap pixel numbers at a sensible level and focus their R&D budgets on improving image quality Big Cry

The 1100D may be more suitable for a beginner as its less complex than the 600D
Equally, he may get more long term value from a 600D as he wont need/want to upgrade until a later date

I'm no expert on either camera, only you can decide which one is most suitable.

From my own experience and that of friends, no one I know who has taken the time to learn (very important) has been disappointed with the capabilities of entry level DSLRs - enjoy Thumbs Up 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

What about the 1100D but see if there are any deals, up to £100 on top of the camera price, which include things like memory cards, extra lenses, camera bag and tripod.
Then he gets a complete starter kit in a oner. Very Happy

Seems very good value. Anything bigger than 12 mp is bigger than necessary in my opinion but I am no expert!

This was posted two back.... Wink

I got distracted while typing and missed your post until after I had posted mine. Wink

Still, it never hurts when two people say the same thing. Thumbs Up

Done.... He is the proud owner of a Canon 600D. Got it from currys as they have a few deals on. Got a 2 year warranty and a free Canon camera bag and £30 cash back, all in £390..
The chap that sold it to us in currys Aberdeen has the same camera.. Oh aye, says me... Wait a minute says he...
He nipped out to his car and came back with his case... 600D. He showed us one of his albums with his own photos taken with the camera. Very impressed.
So, one very happy boy. He is starting from the very beginning and hopefully this will be the start of a lifelong hobby.
Thanks for all input chaps. Previously..
