More Gearbox problems

After a very expensive (£3k) complete refurb with new torque converter last year the gearbox and car have behaved impeccably and it even flew its MOT.
So I was gutted yesterday when stationary in traffic I could hear a loud rattle from under the car it happened in drive and reverse but stopped in park and neutral. The car drove fine with no issues but when I took it back to the gearbox specialist there was a lot of head scratching and you cant drive that!!
Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
I love the car but I think its getting time to get somthing that is reliable and not munchin its gearbox every six months. Mine was a blue one! Smile

There’s a brand new L322 GM 5L40-E on eBay at the moment for £1500:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...019wt_1400

It was unsold when the listing expired yesterday (they were previously asking £2000) so they’ve just knocked a further £500 off the price.

Garage called they think it's the drive plate so not covered under warranty for full rebuild as they didn't change it.
£350 labour plus parts. I can never sell the thing it owes me to much money! Piece of s***.
I thought about chopping it in for a freelander2 but having browsed their forum and read honest john's reviews don't think so!
Sorry chaps but i think its something reliable from the far east next time Mine was a blue one! Smile

first the bad news if its the flywheel £400+ and still got £350 to get box in and out if its the basic drive plate £60 +£350.
BUT the good news the problem is the torque converter so under warranty Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Means a couple more days till I get car back and the "NEW" torque converter has to go back to the "Refurbisher who supplied" go figure! Mine was a blue one! Smile

Could the flywheel be classed as consequential damage i.e. because the torque converter failed, the flywheel got damaged. That would mean all is to be done under warranty ??? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

That would have been my argument but they have said just the torque converter has failed I have not seen it and dont know enough about auto boxes to pass judgement. However having said it was the drive plate before they stripped the box out they are now happy to say its a warranty against the torque converter so the fault must be obvious.
I had doubts about drive plate because it only rattled in drive or reverse not in neutral or park but like i said what do i know.
As long as it gets rebuilt AGAIN with no cost to me, i am hoping its third time lucky! Mine was a blue one! Smile

RRPhil would be able to tell us (a lot) more about this. Just as long as you don't get screwed financially this time, I'm happy for you Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Got it back yesterday with no bill. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
So might keep it another 6 months! Confused
However having had fingers burnt by it being a warranty claim gearbox specialist is insisting I change starter motor as there is a slight (rattle) on starting which it has always had, and he thinks may be a problem so wount warranty work unless I do. Mine was a blue one! Smile
