I just tested my unpaired spare and the alarm went off once I unlocked and opened my door so I think you will be safe from having your car stolen using the old key.

good thinking batman! i never thought of that. I will check now - i don't remember adding it as an extra but might be worth a try. Just checked - it was an optional extra which i did not opt into. Might be worth considering next year though! Last edited by Aurrian on 13th Jul 2013 3:07pm. Edited 1 time in total |

if you re-sync the key you have it will knock out the central locking operations of the lost key so if some one has it they will not be able to open the car from a distance but they can open the door the using the key in the lock. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

The un-synced key does disable the alarm once used to start the car I'm afraid, I just tested mine. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie |

Thanks guys. Well good to know anyway. If I hear the alarm I'll be out like a rocket.... Anyone got any cheaper way of getting new spare apart from dealer? How much does it cost at the dealer?? |
