RSW Allcoms Version 2

I'm not sure I'm totally correct about this but it appears Storey has released a Version 2 of his device with a number of additional functions. As far as I can determine this "Version 2" tool is not compatible with the "Version 1" tool and as such any updates to functions can now only be used using the "2" Version which effectively makes the "1" version redundant insofar as the up to date software for it does not include the functions available on the "2" version.
If I am correct I find this somewhat disappointing as I understood the "1" version was to be continuously up-dated to include all functions on the L322 with no previous reference being made to having to purchase an additional revised tool.

Anyone else noticed this?

its probably because the version 1 has been copied by the chinese that he's brought out the non compatible version 2....

Shame as well you have to purchase another tool now to keep up to date. Sad
I wonder when Version 3 is coming out?

Hi
I'm pretty sure the cable/hardware hasn't changed - only the software which runs it. As the software runs on your laptop you just need to download the new version. Your allcomms software should manage the update, but you may have to email him for a link to it if it doesn't, as you can no longer just download it direct from his website.

Thanks,

My software is telling me I have the most upto date version but it certainly doesn't have all the functions shown on his demo video for Version 2. The screen just displays each of the functions as it always did.
I will email Storey for clarification. Thumbs Up

I have sent him an email to clear this up, don’t think it’s fair that another unit has to be purchased in order to run the new software as when it was in beta it was meant to be updated as it developed, he even mentions that the version 2 has been cured of some bugs that still remain in version 1...

Hi R. Storey Wilson

I have seen a post on our range rover forum saying you now do the all comms version 2,
I bought the version 1, I was one of the first to pre order the unit as a beta testing unit when you first released them and there are quite a few of our members that have the unit as well.
I know it slowed down due to copies and fake ones on eBay, some of I even reported to you me self.
but am I right in saying that the version one is now redundant and the new version 2 software is not backward compatible, does this mean that version one will not be supported anymore and any one that has the version 1 will not receive any more software updates
I emailed you a while ago and you mentioned that you were going to start work on the unit again but I never thought that it would be a completely new unit

Thanks Dave

Seems we need to wait for an email from Storey with a new link to software 2 and activation key .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I got an email from Storey last night in answer to mine giving me a link to the new software and an activation key.
It seems he is now granting you a licence to his software by way of the activation key which allows instal on one machine.
I presume this is to counter the activities of our Chinese friends.
The hardware tool is obviously compatible with the new software. Thumbs Up
