Right, had a good look this afternoon. Thankfully, not a particularly horrendous problem.

I had something similar with a camper van in the US many moons ago. The powersteering hose failed and the mechanic that fitted the new hose, fitted it against the fanbelt. Luckily I checked it a few days later and noticed in time, so the second repair finally did the job.

I bought the FF 2-3 months ago from BenJJ on here. It's a relatively cheap, simple fix, and it would be a 200 mile round trip to where the engine was done. When I bought my old L322 new back in 2004, had exactly this problem. The hose had been rubbing and had the tiniest of splits in it - which opened up under load, but when the engine was off it didn't leak a drop..... Was told at the time that a number of td6's had been built with the hose fitted incorrectly. So there was some kind of recall.
