Can you get it to come out even if with manual intervention? If so the spring inside the mechanism may have come adrift or broken, therefore it could be fixed.

it can be fixed, my one was the same..after you get it out you need to take it apart..watch out for the spring..have a good look at it before you take it apart, teflon or silicon spray will help but after a while it will stick, you need to shave the runners...or send it to me and i will do it..it is very easy to get out...
