Buying 2008 RR SC in the UK. Some advices from the members!

So, I actually found a car in the UK which is pretty what I wanted, except for the walnut wood ( I prefered piano black)

It's a 2007 FFRR SC, 34000 miles, RES, Santorini, with Ivory interior!

My dad is in talks with the owner of the car! He does business better than I do Cool

So, I had a question for you guys, being the the most of you come from the UK! I want to drive the car from the UK to Albania, the Range Rover will be staying there! Is there any type of temporary plates, or something like that? The owner had private plates, and he wanted them to be removed from the car before I had it!

(Another quick question, does anyone knows if its possible to do a RHD to LHD conversion on a 2007 model? and what are the costs)

Thanks in advance 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior

1. The original UK plate something like LT07 GTE will allocated by the DVLA and you can use this to drive in Europe until its re-registered as long as you are insured.

2. Why bother with a conversions that is costly when you have the whole of Europe including France, Germany & Spain to buy a LHD used Range Rover????????????????

3. Why Albania - Won't it get stripped to its Chassis within a few days?

4. Am I missing something here..... Shocked

Seems that it would be easier and cheaper to buy a ready done LHD surely?

I doubt anyone has done serious RHD/LHD conversions since the Range Rover Classic days when LHD ones were rarer. Its just not worth the cost. There are some people who sell LD range rovers on Autotrader so if you MUST buy one in the UK, go for one of those! Discovery 4 HSE

Thanks for the advices guys! I really liked this vehicle, but it seems that the guy was in talks with someone else! Also, I've tried buying one here, but the guys at the dealership, didn't know the difference between HSE, Vogue and Supercharged... And they wanted something like 55000 euros (49k £) for a 2005 Vogue, with 4.4 BMW engine... IT'S CRAZY!!! Paris sucks Laughing

On to the next one!

Btw, you will be amazed on how much Albania has changed in the last 10 years! The concentration of luxury cars is ridiculous! I personally know 10 people that in the last 2 years have bought themselves FFRR's os RRS's including myself! So I doubt that It will be stripped for parts Laughing

I was considering a G4 challenge but the car will mostly be a city driver! I also use 2 types of wheels for my ride! Cool looking ones Whistle (yes, I know most of you guys don't like them here) for the city, and 18 inch wheels with mud tires when I go offroad!

Streets are not that bad anymore!

It's a small country, and right now, it's like a race for who got the most expensive car down there Laughing I know, it's crazy 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior

Are you French working in Albania or Albanian living in Paris???

Interesting to hear how normal Albania sounds just now. There are people I know who will get a ferry from Croatia to Greece just avoid driving through Albania due to stories of being followed and stopped/mugged by gangs of BMW driving bandits!

Glad its improving as may want to drive to Greece myself quite soon Rolling Eyes

I'm Albanian studying in Paris! I do study Video Game Art, something not imaginable in Albania yet! Laughing

As for info, there is more than 10 years that we don't have any problems with this sort of things! Rolling Eyes

I myself have driven twice in the last 2 years from Tirana, the capital, to Dubrovnik in Croatia with no problems! Also went to greece several times with no problem!

If you ever decide to go to Greece, you should also give Albania a try! If in summer, I can be there and assist you with whatever you need! There are many places that you can visit with down here!

So no problems whatsoever! The only thing that is a little frustrating, is that the cops might pull you over to verify that your car papers are legit! But if you drive with someone local, like me for example, everything should be fine!

I also forgot to mention that we received the Gumball Rally back in 2007 Cool 2000 BMW M5, Avus Blue/LeMans Leather Interior

You should be able to find LHD examples in the UK. Saves you the hassle of conversion.
