I am new to this site.I am now driving a D3-TDV6HSE 2.7 and been keeping an eye for a Range Rover. We will be installing 3 baby seats so with this configuration we will have to put my eldest who will be 2 years at the front seat( i understand that its not advisable to put a child at the front seat), so that my wife will be able to sit in the middle seat. Or should I just stick to the D3 with an option on the 3rd row?

We do an average of 50,000 kilometers a year and i was hoping that with the RR, we will be more comfortable as it more spacious/lux...... and the list can be long . We live in Thailand, Krabi.

I would like to get some views before I commit myself to a Range Rover or should i get myself a Toyota Alphart that has many seats

It really depends on the child seats and if one was to go in the front it would have to be forward facing.
Depending on your laws as well there are age limits on the front seat occupant in some countries.
The FF will be a fair bit more comfortable over uneven roads and on long journeys as well so would help you cover the mileage better. Downside is the rear isn't much, if any bigger than a D3 and your don't get 3rd row seats either.

Depending on the car seats your wife may feel uncomfortable between between the 2 rear mounted seats as the middle seat in either vehicle isn't that big really, especially for a long journey.

personaly i'd get a little car and make the mrs drive it with the kids in while you drive in front  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Sounds like you need to stick with / go for a 7 seater, the FFRR will give more luxury but with three under 2yrs old you would want seat covers etc ! So Disco may be best bet if you go with LR, otherwise......

Also, seek some family planning advice otherwise won't be long before you need a minibus  .

..and there's the airbag problem if you put a 2year old in the front and as far as i know ,it cant be switched off.. ... - .- -.

We have two kids, a 2 1/2 (almost 3) and 10 year old. We find that with the car seat for the youngest in the middle the spaces next to her are not "that wide". Same goes for our Landcruiser. I can imagine that two seats in the back and your wife in the middle will not be very comfy for her to say the least.

My suggestion is go for a D3 or D4 with the 3rd row. I found the D4 a very comfy car in South Africa, on road and in Kruger park. Comfort levels are getting close to FFRR territory.

On having the 2 year old in the front seat facing forward in a very good quality childseat, I don't think that is an issue with the dash airbag but not sure about the curtain/side airbags. I would look online to see if it is safe.

For what it is worth, if I had limited budget (actually I do) and I had to choose between a D4 and a L322, I may go for the "cheaper" D4. Luckily I didn't have to choose and found a nice SC. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Airbag on mine can be switched off.......

key hole in the end of the passenger side dash panel, can be disabled, enabling the fitting of rear facing child restraints.

would have thoght that there would not be much space left in the centre seat in the rear with 2 baby seats in the car.

I have done this a couple of times and they take up so much space that there is very little "seat" left for the adult in the centre, not what you would call comfy. However it may be different with your seats. recommend seat protectors as the leather can get damaged. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

For family trips in comfort stick to the Toyota
If funds allow get a FFRR for yourself and work/pleasure...

i have both in same colors/specs (D3 HSE and TDV8 Vogue) and well.... I barely use the D3.
