United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Bournville
Where to buy from?

Morning guys!

Ive been looking around online for a couple of weeks now for a FFRR and starting to see the same ones over and over again....
Im looking on Autotrader, ebay and Pistonheads. Obviously checking the for sale section here too but anywhere else i can have a look?
Ideally i want a Grey FF with ivory leather. Piano black trim and if they have the Overfinch Supersport (i think that them), tigers or stormers, im a happy boy.
Wanting a Diesel and from what ive read, it should be a TDV8 for reliability (unless im being stupid..feel free to correct me Whistle )
Oh and i want it to be 2006 onwards with the better looking Dash (IMO) and key up near the wheel.

As you can see, im not asking for much at all Mr. Green

If anyone has seen one, point me that way!

Loving the forum chaps!

Thanks for the advice Geo2toy! Thumbs Up

Im loving the grey one thats in the link. Will try to get in touch with Gaz next week.
I kind of set me heart on one and then another one comes along and messes it all up! Seen a Red one yesterday on ebay and now im liking that! Shocked

Seriously getting annoyed with myself!

Doesnt have to be grey as the red looks good and a few black ones i have seen look good too! As do the blue ones!
See what i mean! Too many bloody choices! Rolling Eyes

Pami, have you had a test drive yet?
If you have a dealer close to you, it may be worth having a look at the colours in the flesh, so to speak.
Had it, loved it!

not had the time to do so yet. im hoping to get the ball rolling in a week or so!

I would rather the opinions and experiences of actual owners rather than Dealers/traders.
Is the TDV8 deffo the better engine to go for?
Im wanting to P/X my A6 in so would rather deal with a Dealer/Trader when looking to buy unless they offer me pennies for it in which case i will try to sell privately

The engine you choose really depends on the driving you do, but as a rule for the modern world the tdv8 is the one to go for.

Sotrnoway with cream leather is lovely, I think that finding one with that combo and piano black will be tricky but not impossible, its the exact combo of Richtdv8's and it looks spot on.

Red i think is an acquires taste, they do look good in rimini imho bit its not everyones cup of tea.

Mine is black and forever looks dirty. If i were to get another it would be a tdv8 vogue se in stornoway grey with black leather (kids) and piano trim, no side tubes, no light grilles etc with a tow bar and factory privacy glass.

If you want tinted rear glass only get the original factory glass. You can tell it as you cant see the wires for the heated screen from the outside.

Just my 2 penneth. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

@Geo
gotta disagree about number of previous owners adn FLRSH being important.

1. Many owners replace every year or two anyway so a 6-8 year old could have up to 5 owners (mine did). will still probably be a good 'un. It is not a refection on whether it is a good/bad car.

2. LR servicing is not renowned for its thoroughness or openness. I would rather have service history from a good indie. My first (8 yr old) one had no service history at all and has been fault free for over 4 years, but i had it assessed by a quality indie who gave it the Thumbs Up

3. Mileage. I just don't understand the UK mentality where lower mileage equates to a better (and therefore more expensive) car. One that has done 150,000 on motorways will normally always be better than one with 5,000 done mainly to the local school/shops and never gets warm, leaving moisture to corrode the engine internally.

@OP.
always try adn get a FFRR expert to come down with you and inspect/test drive. Even if it costs £50-£100. Their knowledge is paramount. I bought my first from an auction, undriven, not inspected and with no svce history, but a friend in the motor trade looked at it and said it was a goodie. He was 100% right. 4 years down the line, Never had anything major go wrong (swapped a slow working compressor for the EAS)

Well, i had a bit of a long drive yesterday.
Spotted this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140943843187?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 and thought to have a look. The seller sounded very genuine and the car looked and sounded perfect (no ivory leather but i can live without that)

We agreed on a figure and i set off on my 300 mile each way journey. The advert clearly said in a number of places that the car was HPI Clear and the seller confirmed this over the phone too. I stopped for a break about 1 hour away from him and thought lets run a quick HPI Check and get 7 days driveaway insurance Mr. Green
I know i should have done this before setting off but the seller sounded so genuine, i took his word for it.

So after speaking with HPI Check, the said its got outstanding finance on it! Evil or Very Mad
I called the seller to check and he said yes it has. When i asked him why his advert says different and why he lied to me, he claimed it never came up in conversation!!
I told him he was a scammer and i wouldn't deal with him and turned around for home. Really glad i did the HPI Check and will do one before i set off from now on!

The hunt still goes on.

Im deffo after a Vogue SE now and has to be wither Black,Blue or Grey. The rest can be ironed out! Very Happy

Let me now if anything crops up anywhere!

Sounds like a lucky escape, as it sounds a bit on the steep side, unless they were taking about £3k off the price. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I know its a bit steep but it had everything i wanted in one package plus the mileage was quite low.
Also meant i wouldnt need to spend any more money making it more me!

I can spend about 20k-25k on the right one.
Prefer mileage to be reasonable, deffo has to be a Vogue SE and it would be nice if it was a bit closer to home!
