2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey
worth it or not?

there is a grey tdv8 vogue 2007 privately for sale just up the road from me, low mile 57k owned from new £21k reasonable price, problem is all servicing carried out by the local garage round the corner? needs new tyres and not taxed. I did say that most buyers would expect to find a dealer history with such miles, to buy or not to buy?

Buy on condition would by my advice, so really do a very good inspection or have it inspected properly before you commit. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

If the garage is just up the road from you, you'll know how good they are, and what sort of reputation they have Whistle

Wouldn't worry too much about lack of dealer service history, a lot of their "servicing" can leave a lot to be desired.
If it has been serviced by a local small garage you might find the owner has been more inclined to have it serviced regularly due to the lower cost involved.
Condition is everything.... well nearly.
If you are not confident to inspect yourself have it checked professionally.
Best of luck.

I've been considering a 2007MY TDV8 being sold by a private owner who has owned it for over 2 years.. very respectable seller, car is in 50 to 60k mile bracket 'but' has, since seller's ownership, been serviced by a 'local garage' and has no ongoing warranty.. It's probably just my being 'snobbish' just because it doesn't have the main dealer LR service book stamps.. and the local garage is probably equally as competent as anything LR has to offer... but... just a little illogical niggle about it...

And does being out of the main dealer servicing racket not invalidate corrosion warranty???

Get a few quid knocked off and you will have a good Buy if it runs nice and looks ok. Local garages can be much better than main dealer. Get a warranty and you will be fine[/code]

The corrosion warranty is 6 years, so depending on when it was manufactured, it might already be out of warranty. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I'd have a punt on it. Just because Land Rover franchised dealers haven't done it does not necessarily mean it's bad. My SC Vogue only goes into the main dealer if my lad can't sort it, and he's a trained Mercedes Benz technician. Therefore, I can service mine as I choose, which is very often !!! (it subsitutes for his housekeep !!!).
Best advice is to call in at the garage if they're local and see for yourself.

France 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Rimini Red

Hi, I did exactly the same, just bought[2 weeks ago] a "56" TDV8, had been looking for ages. Finally found one, guy had owned it 3 1/2 yrs bought from same dealer as supplied in the first place, had been serviced every year at the same dealer, lots of history, seller was picking up brand new Rangie the next day, so didn't skimp on servicing.
Once I collected the car I noticed a whine from front d/side, so took it to my friendly local specialist, where we suspended all four wheels to check for bearings, found rear suspension bushes on drivers side were shot, also oil leak from transfer box, this was only serviced in February, and had covered 2k since. I am now looking at a 3k plus bill to rectify! The joys of owning a Range Rover.
So, the moral of this story is....... FMSH means diddly squat!!
Buy on condition, not service history, I`ve found a good independent is much better than main dealer, who will tell you everything is fine when buying, and then 1 month later tell you everything needs changing!
It`s a minefield out there, we are looking at 6-7 year old cars, that cost 65-75k+ to buy, and looking to pay 20k+ for them, you need to expect some contingency for bringing them up to scratch.
I wish you luck in your search, but please don`t go to your maximum budget, keep some back....just in case
Range Rovers... I love them, and hate them, in equal measures!!
Steve

Much sense in what you say... I suppose though that if a 6/7 year old car was bought from a main dealer/franchised garage, the unpleasant surprises that were lurking for you would be ones for the supplying garage to make good... Did the seller really not know that this work needed done/ was it strictly a sold as seen arrangement?

dissapointed

well went and viewed this today
http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbi...1014477522

wow, they had it from new and destroyed it, we were asked to phone when at the gate so the dogs can be put away, the drive is a mile long! and round the corner to this amazing farmhouse, my hopes were high, we are led to the car, OMG there is not an unscrathced panel on it, no paint on the sills leather is trashed, its criminal that a high end car can be obused in this way. I had my blinkers on although deep down i knew it was rough, put an offer in of 17k given the condition and walked away, the better half then listed eveything i had not seen. it truly was a farmers shed, the search continues.

No..... I honestly think that the seller was genuine.
Like the OP I had been looking for ages, in the end I bought a 2 owner car
With full MD history, high spec, with a spare set of 20" wheels and good tyres,
For £20500, it's still probably £2500 cheaper than from an independant dealer, let alone a main dealer.
So, as disappointed as I first was, I still have a bit of cash left to rectify faults(hopefully)
It's bloody hard trying to find a good one, you can try to be as thorough as you can, but
In the end I think it's still pot luck, on what you end up with.
