Fuel consumption I am getting about 19/20mpg out of my TDV8. In a month I probably only do 400 to 600 miles and use about £90 in fuel (those Sainsburys 5c off vouchers help Thumbs Up )

I got 40 mpg from mine the other day (although that was on a 220 mile round trip, mainly on Motorways!)

Sounds doubtful as I have tried to drive carefully on Motorway only and only registered about 31 mpg and that crashes when you leave the motorway....

My driving pattern is a mix of town and motorway.

That's "Combined" in my book and you say you get 40 mpg when it should be 25 mpg? (I get 23 mpg combined)
Surprised

How the hell did you get 40mpg? were you being towed or was it all downhill?
The best I have heard a TDV8 do is off the honestjohn website at 35ish mpg.
I normally try to max out the fuel economy by driving at 56-60mph and not use the brake but 40mpg out of a RR is great.
Kind regards,
Ed

A long run between St Albans and Redditch (and back) - I only had 4 roundabouts in the way and with the exception of about .5 mile at either end was on either a M'way or DC and although there was traffic I never had to slow down (other than road works). I was on the phone most of the way up and cruising at about 60 so I was trying to prove a point on the return journey.

It was a very dull journey! However, I have just come from a Merc CL500 so there was an element of the novelty factor of doing anything more than 25mpg!
