There is really very few platforms in the selection, the utility side is basically versions of the DC100 to replace the current defender line up, so take into account how many itterations of the current defender there are and that side doesnt seem to extravagant.

The middle column has the replacement for the current disco a lux disco which would probably be based on the sport, and then several versions of the freelander all of which will share the same architecture, so relatively cheap to derive, also shared with the evoque.

The range rover column has a few versions of the evoque again with a shared architecture with freelander, a larger evoque (a little pointless imho), the sport which we have now seen, and L405.

so really in total there is L405, Sport/disco, evoque/freelander, and DC100 + derivatives. simples. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

A L-R marketing man's wet dream IMHO. How can it be cost effective to build so many models for fundamentally the same markets? For example anybody looking at a RRS would surely also consider the 'Luxury Disco' and the 'Evoque XL' which means that sales of one model would bastardise the sales of other models making volumes smaller for all models which would bring all sorts of issues into play such as cost, reliability, brand image etc. Sorry but I think L-R have it about right with their current range and they should focus on maximising revenue from their existing range (preferably through improving product quality, reliability and after sales service) rather than trying to fill every little market niche that they think they see. I bet half these models never see the light of day

Evoque XL is basically the Sport anyway, seems odd to release models differing by 1 inch increments. Tom
