OK, daft question of the day....

When you fold the rear seats, is it just the backrests that fold forward or does the squab lift and fold too to give a flat load area?

As above. When the seats are folded down, just pull on the back of the seat (at the hinge point) and it will pull up and forwards 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

You will not got a flat load area from the folded seats all the way to the tailgate. Where the seats sit there is a lip and then a recess for the seat bases, its not like a disco or SSRR. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have just searched the forum to find out about whether the rear seats fold completely flat to be able to strap an extra large cage in the back. The above thread has confused me slightly? haha

So am i right in thinking they wont go completely flat to accomodate a cage? i know i will have a better idea when i look at one and play around but its quite an important aspect that i can fit my current dog cage in, and it doesnt with the seats up.

they will be up slightly, i'd say about a 15 degee 'ish angle.. ... - .- -.

If you fold them away completely you'll get a dog cage in easy. There is a gap under the front of the cage so you'll have to pack it with something.

New here as looking to buy a 2011/12MY - (though been around the sister site DISCO3 site for a a while).

having read this thread I'm still confused as to how flat the back seats will go. I've actually searched the web like crazy to look for the answer to what I thought would be a simple question - but no, I cant find a single picture or clear description of how the seats flatten in a L322 - plenty of piccies and descriptions (and moans) for a RRSport - strangely enough!!.

I've been to look at a couple of cars (not at main dealers) and the sales guys just seam to scratch their head - the backrest seamed to fold forward but the angle was still ridiculous and they didnt know if the whole seat the swung up or lowered (as per a disco) - to then create a level, flat space in the back

Any help appreciated as I really am keen to move from my disco to a FFRR but this space issue could be a deal breaker.

Infact if any kind soul can quickly snap a photo of the seats fully lowered that would be even better !!

As explained above you can fold the seats in two steps.

1st. Click the shoulder release button and the seat back folds forward but not flat.

2nd. If you pull up where the seat has folded over the whole seat will flip over (has yellow release levers) and into the rear footwell giving you better load area. The folded rear seats fit flush to the back of the front seats so you will lose about a foot of depth.

There is also a dip in the boot area where the bottom part of the rear seat fits. Hence why adding some packing to large objects is useful as it is not a single flat floor from front to back, only from the tailgate to the back of the rear seats.

thanks for the description so it sounds like that once the seat is swung up, the base of the boot floor then drops into a 'well' where the seat base was. mmmmmmmm

has anyone ever built a board or something to fill this ?

the reason I ask is that I need a flat floor (as per RRS or disco) for my dogs. They're too big for a cage so I just use a guard but if the floor is uneven or has gaps, they might break a leg if they are caught off balance.
