United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Java Black

Your post made me go have a look at my FFRR too - I had new discs and pads on around a month ago and last weekend experienced the same dragging sensation accompanied by a burning smell after a longiosh trip.

My rear left discs now have some white residue on them ... not shiny any more Sad - Have checkied it in to the garage to have a look at this morning but sod's law - was driving perfectly again all week so its probably sorted itself out for now Sad African Bush Junkie ... in London!

make sure you use high-temperature grease.

Jim, greasing the brake discs??? Surely not. This is what we call in the UK a "half assed" approach.

Simply remove the brake discs and discard them. This will definitely resolve any binding issues Mr. Green Lloyd Barnes

who needs brakes - surely the car can just run over any obstacle in front of it!

Car's back today, haven't had a chance to test it, but hoping it just disappears as with yours, DeRanged. But the dealers are convinced there's nothing there...just want to sell me new brake discs MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Did you ask how a 2-year old car can go through disks so quickly? If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

i did but their only answer is it depends on the previous owner. and having had to change two completely worn wheels, i presume the previous owner was a bit of a Censored driver (and famous apparently so probably true)...

It's done about 22k miles, so i'd expect brake pads and discs to be getting worn anyway unless i'm missing something? bear in mind, it's only the rear ones... MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Get the Discs from Dan @ Duckworths - Much cheaper than going to the Stealers for them. And give me a shout when you ready to change them - I'll give you the details of the guys who changed mine for me - total cost was around 500 quid less than what the dealers quoted me. African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Stan is correct; obviously you wouldn't "grease" the rotors.

Back to OP:
Do you notice the behavior when the vehicle is cold more than after it's warmed up?
The transmission program is such that, until the fluid is up to proper operating temperature, it will hold lower gear longer, to warm the fluid up faster.
Upshifts are slightly delayed, and throttle-off coast will occur in lower gear.

I thought there was a problem with mine until I RTFM, then after paying attention to warm and cold behavior understood the system a bit better. Jim

Jim, thanks very much Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Think that's exactly the answer I'm looking for...and hoping applies to my issue.

Thinking back it does seem that I notice this more on short journeys and when the car isn't used long enough to heat up properly ...

With this info I'll keep an eye on cold and warm behavior and see if this is the case..

Should really RTFM!!!

Thanks again Jim!!

Update when car came back from stealers...they said no problems on brakes or tyres and they thought it was running perfectly ...brakes only slightly worn. However the car has come back with several small chips dotted across the windscreen, cracked left reflector on rear bumper and an empty tank (almost third full when they picked it up) which I'm not happy about at all. Have sent an email to the manager and let's see what happens on Monday when he's back. Censored MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"
