Hi all, not posted for a while, had no computer, don't ask...
I had the Air Suspension Inactive message and read the codes - I had the problem previously with the compressor taking too long to rebuild pressure.
I ordered the repair kit - £158 via Paypal - from Uli (Meerbusch) - excellent service, arrived from Germany in four days. Thanks Uli!
I won't go into the details of removing the compressor, it's been covered on here a lot. Uli sends straightforward instructions covering stripping and rebuilding the actual unit.
Of most interest to the forum - does replacing the bits work? All I can say, it has worked on mine - I reset the system and have had no problems since.
The kit consists of a new piston ring and cylinder head, along with a new air dryer cartridge and o-rings, patch bolts etc. Of note, I could not detect any wear or damage of any kind to my original cylinder head; the wear was all on the piston ring. I don't think that replacing the head added any improvement, but replacing the dryer cartridge is a valuable gain.
BTW, if anybody near me (Preston) needs a suspension reset, I will gladly assist.
