New FFRR owner with more questions

Thanks to all who replied to my first post here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic16395.html

I have now had my new (to me) Vogue SE for a few days and I'm very happy with it but I've got a couple more questions to ask

1. How on earth do I turn the TA traffic announcements off? They're driving me nuts
2. Does the satnav screen dim automatically at night? How do I know if mine does as it seems very bright even though I've turned the brightness adjuster down
3. How do I stop the rear parcel shelf creaking?

1) Turn off TMC by pressing the "info" button, under the main power knob

2) Page 99 of manual says the dial down by lights adjusts all dash instrumentation "forward of the driver..."
Page 282 suggests that you may want to use "set 1" for daytime and "set 2" with brightness turned down for night?
No explicit mention of auto dimming.

{Edited: you found Screen brightness ! } Embarassed
is under main home menu, settings, screen settings.
Press the "tick" button on top left hand side

3) not covered in manual ... Laughing Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Thanks E4GUY. Thats solved the TA problem. Yes I found the brightness adjuster but I dont remember seeing set 1 and set 2. I'll have to look at the manual. Btw I think the manual is s**t or at least the index is. There is no reference in the index to 'traffic announcement', 'brightness adjustment' or 'auto dimming'. This is poor considering the L322 has been in production for 10yrs

PS First problem of FFRR ownership has arisen this morning. Low Coolant alarm has appeared on the dashboard. Tried stopping/starting ignition but it's still there. I guess I'll actually have to check the coolant level when the engine cools down. This is a new experience for me as German cars don't do this but I expect that FFRR is a different kind of ownership proposition

Don't even touch it! Just call LRA out and get them to do it Smile

As for the creaking rear panel some people fit some slithers of felt i believe down the runners and that sorts it out Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Phoned local dealer to book car in for low coolant warning and they just said top the reservoir up with domestic water which I did and hey presto, warning light gone. Bit worrying still that alarm came up so soon after taking delivery but I'll have to see whether it happens again.
Apologies but I have 3 more questions
1) How do I know whether my car has got a tyre pressure monitoring system because I can't find any reference to it in the dashboard menus?
2) Have tried using the Timed Climate facility. A whirring noise starts somewhere under the bonnet but the interior doesn't seem to warm up at all. Is it supposed to? If not, what does Timed Climate do?
3) How do I connect an Ipod to the socket in storage locker between the seats? What kind of cable is it?

TPMS - Pray to the Gods you don't have it, but check your tyre valves, if they are made of metal, short and stubby and look like a bolt head its got TPMS. If it is just a standard rubber tyre valve, its not.

Have you got the remote control keyfob for pre heating?

The timed climates have been known to be a bit useless on 2010 onwards. Some have problems where they won't heat at all, or if any heat, only a barely warm cabin. If the battery is a little low they won't come on to save the drain problem Rolling Eyes

Check that you have left the heater on quite hot & on "Auto" setting before you turn the engine off & lock up for the night, then give it another go in the morning.

I found mine works best if left on about 26 degrees on the temp guages.

Thanks. OK I'm praying on the TPMS. What I don't understand though is that on previous cars I've had with TPMS, you have to confirm that the tyre pressures are correct through one of the screen menus but I can't find any reference to TPMS on any menu I've found on my FFRR.
Yes I have the remote key fob for the timed climate and that seems to work

My pre heat warms the cabin no matter what setting my temp controls are.

One thing to note is that often when you start up afterwards its knocks off the air con button. Discovery 4 HSE
