I had a thought
I knew that when I returned from holiday my new Big Bosch battery would be flat (that's why we took SWMBO's car to park at the airport for two weeks). So I wasn't disappointed, flat as a pancake, all the lights came on but not enough juice to crank the engine, not a biggie as its all charged up now.
BUT it did occur to me that as it was down on the suspension (slow leak) does it take up power trying to keep things level until there in no air left - SteveFR advised me that the compressor itself won't run whilst the car is locked up and "shut down" but what about all the sensing and levelling until the reservoir of air empties.
Am I on to something or as usual barking up the wrong tree or even worse howling at the moon with hair growing on my hands

I read that the car checks that it is level, I believe every 30 minutes, even when switched off.
When my airline split one night it dropped in one corner and the battery was flat in the morning. It uses the air reservoir to try and keep the car level. Previously..

I had heard that it checks its level every Xmins. However i was subsequently told that it does go into a 'sleep' mode.
The sleep mode i can believe, i always drop and lock the suspension when entering my work car-park, after 8 [odd!] hours i return and start up and i get an adjustment on the front suspension (downwards movement) - which suggest to me that when it sleeps it sleep, when re-energised it then re-adjusts.

It will re check every now and again

Leaving on bump stops? Is that the same as leaving in access mode or is there something new for me to discover? Geoff

bump stops are slightly lower than access...normally goes to this if you've had it jacked up [repairs etc] and then let it down.. ... - .- -.

After I have jacked it up, it stays there, higher than off road, until I start driving it.

Two things one can do:

1. Disconnect battery if leaving it for "weeks", perhaps fit a quick disconnect terminal if doing this often? Does this make it more difficult or easier to steal?

2. Fit secondary battery ? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

or take a booster pack/second battery.

Im off to Canadia for a week and a bit and parking in the LS parking. Bit worried that it will be flat as when i get back.

Going to put my spare S3 in the boot just in case. I already have a set of jump leads. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I would disconnect the battery -ve terminal when you park the car and accept you have to open it with the key before re-connecting battery.
Provided your battery shows no sign of an internal fault ie discharging your car will start when you get back.

Thought relevel when parked up was: after last door is closed, then every 6 hours...

Also, it won't level up with the engine off, during the '6 hour' check it will lower to match the lowest corner...until it hits the bumps... 

No it will use up what's in the reserve then start the balancing act bleeding the system to equalise it until its drained. The control valve isn't too powerful but its constant kick in and out will have that affect on any battery  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
