OK then, could send the wife for the hassle and paperwork and save £100 on the bill!

I don't know about you guys, but I am not sure the last time I pitched up for a service with a friend in tow. I expect that the 'mystery shopper' will stick out like the wotsits on a dog to any member of staff that is even moderately awake.

Alternatively, turing up with a mate who very deliberately points his tie at staff members could be a recipe for excellent service....

It's an advertising scam - it makes you think you are important and knocks £100 off the inflated dealer price for a service.

Aye, the folk in the dealers do know us and it maybe slightly strange just saying that the mystery shopper is a 'colleague!' but they can usually spot them a mile off in the sales dept which we walk thru to the service. But as you say, it gives money off the service - which we need done and as its 2 years old we are still using the dealer. We always supply our own oil (from Opie - site sponsors Thumbs Up ) to save a hefty chunk so the extra cash form the mystery shopper will take it down to just eye watering opposed to full on 'bend over' rates.

We are booked in next Monday so will see how it goes and report back (esp if I get Car-jacked!)
