Just to decide if I'm going to keep it period (1999) or I could build it with modern components or maybe something in between

If you can find good period stuff then that's best if say John Smile

Bought a new set of crank arms for mine but the drive one is slightly different and as it came with rings I think ill end up sticking the drive side set on complete although the rings are slightly larger it should give me better top end speed Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Can you not change the rings over?

I've been offered a very nice low mileage Ultegra 6600 groupset which dates from around 2006-2009 so not as old as the frame, but probably better than top of the range Campagnolo groupsets from 1999 so I'm going to have a look at that first before I think about older parts

nope Sad There is a support part of the OE set that isn't replicated on the new one that the rings require for fitting Sad

Going to have a better look later i think and see if some liquid metal can help but for £20 for the set I'll likely just bang them on and see how she fares as really need to get out on her asap but time always seems against me as tonight i have the SSRR event to pop over to and im having someone come and rent the chainsaw again tonight Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Fitted a couple of wheels tonight to see what it looked like and check the clearances, the headset tube is more of an angle than I expected so I might have to experiment quite a bit with the stem to get the correct length

I managed to find an Ultegra 6600 groupset that was going for a great price and decided that it would be the one for this build

The bottom bracket shell threads were rusty so rather than break anything I visited my LBS today and he ran the tap through to clean them up, he then faced off the ends of the shells so that the Hollowtec BB sat nice and flush when tightened

Back home and I threw a few bits on to give me an idea of what the build will look like and I'm rather pleased so far
