Punctured or chacked?

This is the hole in my NEW nexen that I got whilst driving in the snow. Big Cry
What do you think, was it chacked in a pot hole or punctured? I am sure I touched a sharp object as the tyre went bang, but maybe the bang was a pot hole... Not sure now. No other damage to wheel, just my wallet for a new tyre....

the trouble with nexens is that they have a soft sidewall and these sidewall damages very easy..mine went the same on salisbury plain so a reckon a pothole or kerb maybe.. ... - .- -.

The side does feel soft compared to the synchrones that I took off.... But the wet weather handling is SO much better that it is hopefully worth it. Previously..
