Gear Box After Full Recon

Well so much for life time fill on the ZF transmissions

Got my car back on friday after a full recon including torq converter

Ive got to drive it gental for 500 miles take it back for a new filter and oil, then drive it normal for 6000 and take it back for another oil and filter and again at 12000 miles

The above is a must to keep the warranty and also to ensure the box is all good, ive been gutted with all the snow though as i didnt wat to take it out and play in the snow with it as i wouldnt b using it gently Sad just as well i have my diesel freelander

If I may ask....where did you have your work done and if I may be so cheeky as to ask what the bill was??

I am currently looking down a tunnel with a GB rebuild at the end of it due soon no doubt and am trying to gather as much info on reccomended places as possible....

Have you asked em what fluid they are putting in it dude as its normally over £150 for fluid, as long as they stand by their warranty I dont suppose it matters much, must admit Ive never been told to runa transmission in before!! One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Cheers Cliffy, Will look them up...

Many thanks...

@JohnnyDangerous: Yep, the cheapest I could find locally off the shelf was a VW dealer at £11.70 a litre....when I did a fluid change a couple of weeks ago, I manged to get 7 litres in (obviously the rest is still in the T/C) and that was around £85 - a full box of 10.5 litres at VW prices would be in excess of £115 easily....

I hope they haven't used standard ATF as that will feck things quickly!

£70.58 here (link courtesy of another post, I'm planning a flush & filter change this weekend)

N.b have they fitted an OEM filter, how much was the original repair bill?
