Anyone been to Norway?

Spending a week over there next week in Stavanger and wondered if anyone had any tips (other than taking your own Duty Free)! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

@Stan, yes, it's a plane ride sadly!

We took our Defender over for a 3 week trip up to the Arctic Circle. It is definitely not the cheapest place to visit. Diesel and Camp sites were cheaper than here... and that's about it!! It is a fantastic place to visit. I think the maximum speed on any road we were on was about 47mph so it was quite relaxing driving about there.
I found People tend to drink at home before they go out and go to pubs quite late on.
Enjoy. Thumbs Up Previously..

I lived on the Island of Karmoy in a small town called Kopervik in a previous life for a while. A lovely place - and very clean compared to the UK.

When I was there - early '80s - beer was already £5 per pint...

Usually they had a family evening, until about 10PM (when the TV finished) then went visiting friends and neighbours.

Very low speed limits and swingeing penalties if you are stopped for breaking them - even by a small amount.

I know the area you're working, not far from the Viking stadium, we do quite a bit of work for an oil company just next door.

Clarion is very central, you can have a good walk about in the evening and see plenty stuff.
http://www.skagenbryggehotell.no/en - also very good place for eating if you like fresh seafood - might be this hotel which is across the road http://www.clarionhotel.com/hotel-stavanger-norway-NO079 (see if you can get an upgrade to a suite on top floor) - food just ok in this one, but plenty to choose from on your door step.

If you need a cheapish pint, the Irishman pub is up the hill abvout 5-10 minutes walk from your hotel.

Thanks Duka, Its the Clarion Hotel I'm in, not the Skagenbryggehotel as it seemed to get a better write up on Tripadvisor.

A Scotsman, drinking beer in an Irish pub in Norway! How cosmopolitan is that? Laughing Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Alan, you could go the full hog & drink some lager & lime cocktails!!

Stay off Ringnes beer, will give you a sore head, CB from Bergen or Tau are better bets.

Lager & lime? Sounds like a ladies drink! Al Murray would have a fit! Laughing

I'm thinking about just picking up a nice malt at the duty free and putting some Norwiegan ice in it! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
