We took our Defender over for a 3 week trip up to the Arctic Circle. It is definitely not the cheapest place to visit. Diesel and Camp sites were cheaper than here... and that's about it!! It is a fantastic place to visit. I think the maximum speed on any road we were on was about 47mph so it was quite relaxing driving about there.

I lived on the Island of Karmoy in a small town called Kopervik in a previous life for a while. A lovely place - and very clean compared to the UK.

I know the area you're working, not far from the Viking stadium, we do quite a bit of work for an oil company just next door. Clarion is very central, you can have a good walk about in the evening and see plenty stuff. http://www.skagenbryggehotell.no/en - also very good place for eating if you like fresh seafood - might be this hotel which is across the road http://www.clarionhotel.com/hotel-stavanger-norway-NO079 (see if you can get an upgrade to a suite on top floor) - food just ok in this one, but plenty to choose from on your door step. If you need a cheapish pint, the Irishman pub is up the hill abvout 5-10 minutes walk from your hotel. http://www.stavangertravel.com/eatdrink/ir...vanger.cfm |

Thanks Duka, Its the Clarion Hotel I'm in, not the Skagenbryggehotel as it seemed to get a better write up on Tripadvisor.
