Strange noise coming underneath the cupholder/ashtray

48 hours after collecting my RR is has developed an alarming noise and I wonder if anyone can help. There is a noise coming from underneath the cupholder/ashtray. I noticed it yesterday and the noise increased when I leant on the cupholder.

On starting the car this morning the noise was very loud but went away after 15 mins. It sounds like the bearing has gone in a fan and it stops when the heater is off.

Please could someone tell me if this is a known or common fault and any ideas on fixes.

Rear blower fan? Probably has never been used. Switch it on and off at rear of console.
