Had a sit in one today.

Passing the Cupar dealer today with my wife, we decided to pop in and have a look at the new L405.
It was the Autobiography version. It had a £100,000 price tag. Shocked
This was my first time seeing one up close. It does look wide, which makes it look a bit lower as well... Or is it because it's lower that makes it look wider !
It is still unmistakably a Range Rover.
The wheels looked huge. The cream interior looked lovely. The seats did not look a lot different to my Vogue SE ones.
The door cards are my favourite part of the interior. The interior did look a bit more modern, but I prefer the classic lines of my FFRR's interior as does my wife.
I positioned the drivers seat to a comfortable driving position then sat in the back. There is without doubt MUCH more rear leg room in my FFRR. My shins were up against a hard ridge on the seat pocket on the back of the drivers seat. It was annoying just being there for a few minutes, let alone a long journey. I am 6'1"...
My wife would not even sit in it, she said there was no point as she thought it was ok, but did not look as good as hers.
I had the bonnet up and there is not much space left in there either.
I went back out to mine and jumped in the rear... There is about 3 inches from my shins to the back of the SOFT pocket on the seat back. I knew there was more room. Just confirmed it.
Overall, I think the new car is nice, but it feels more compact. My wife summed it up nicely.... "You buy a full fat because you want the space inside, that car feels smaller"..
We had a nice drive home in our roomy FFRR knowing we are in no rush to replace it. Very Happy Previously..

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover SE Td6 Zermatt Silver

Interesting considering the car has been lengthened for the sole reason of INCREASING rear leg room so that it can be used by businessmen with drivers etc Shocked Confused

I drove one yesterday. I am 6'2" and if I sit in the rear of my 2010 with the driver's seat positioned for me, my knees are against the seat back. I tried the same in the L405 yesterday and there is about 5cm of free space. There is definitely much more room in the back of the new one.

5.0..... Cant agree sorry. I tried it myself. Got a good driving position in the new one, sat in the back with my feet back towards me, with near vertical shins, and my legs touch the back of the seat. In my SE I have 3 inches spare.
What I did not try was stretching my legs out under the seat in front. It was purely a like for like seating test I did and my FFRR has more room from shin to seat back.

Edit... Do the seat bases move in the rear? Could my seat have been forward? Previously..

Coincidently, I went to mt local dealers as SWMBO is thinking of swapping her BMW 3 touring for a Disco 4. Anyway, 3 L405's on display. They look really good, but I just cant see £100,000 for the Autobiography being value for money.

In the same way I would rather get a Disco and not an Evoque. If I spent £100K on the new RR, I would feel as if I had been mugged as I drove out of the dealership. Guess I'll wait a year or so. Current MY2020
Gone: 1 x L405 and 2 x L322's

Not sure why the Shocked at the prices. The list of my current one was £98k, so an L405 is only a couple of k more. *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

Kkqd... If you spent 98 on an L322 there is no way it is anywhere near standard spec. 100k on a mass produced car from Britain is OTT. Previously..

It's called inflation. An decent spec Mini will cost £30k now which puts it into perspective.

The way the world's central banks are printing money at the moment £100k for a FFRR will seem cheap in a few years.

My 2010 listed at £90k when I got it. The new supercharged has more kit on and add 3 years inflation and the price is not much different between. 405 and 322.

Sounds like the rear seats in the showroom vehicle were in the forward position? I'm 6'3" and there is certainly a huge amount more leg room in the L405.

If the front seat was right back and the rear seat right forward then it would look like less room, but a member of staff should have shown you this, especially if you arrived in a L322 as its one of the key advantages over the old model.
