Exactly how I'm feeling now that it's gone...something wrong with suspension too...went onto transporter then the back end sunk like a stone Shocked Awful feeling that every journey from now on will be waiting for something to go pop!!! Sad
Don't think I have any say on whether its repaired or written off Big Cry

So take your turbos off and anchillary bits and thats your target price if not a smidge more for an engine with history and at the opposite end of the accident. Stick worldwide shipping on it and you'll have an even better audience as no doubt there are people out there wanting to fit it into other vehicles, possibly for even more money with the ECU and turbos...

What rip off world we live in kingpleb...will e-mail Nationwide to keep my options open Thumbs Up

jees, sorry mate not a good start to the year.

In a way, probably best if they do right off, you'll get another good one and not have the worry of rippled panels / dodgy repairs / things not feeling as they used to.

I'm sure your lad is in the dog house, but try not to be too hard on him. These things are too easily done ..................unless he meant if of course Laughing

Push for a write-off if you can. You would not buy a car that had been damaged and repaired to this degree. THats what insurance if for. Thumbs Up

One thing I hope the insurance don't do, is push to sue your own company for the money, so having a double whammy on your insurance ciosts in the future.
Might be best to claim on "self damage" on the car insurance, unless you have a good business policy ?

ahh Sad

If you went thru rural as the 3rd party you'd stand a chance of repair but claiming through your own i doubt it.

TBH the damage isn't that major and done right could be put back on the road. Its just the labour that will soon mount up at £45p/h at best your looking at about 2 weeks work + parts as its all the electrics in there that could be damaged going up that pillar.

Better the devil you know and all.... And what range rover doesn't make you think 'whats going to break on this journey' Wink Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I just don't know the ins and outs of how insurance companies work or interact with each other but I would have thought that if a claim is made against Rural for the damage then Allianz as the RR insurer would be much happier for a write off in order to have a "better" car to reinsure???? As I say I don't know how they work just guessing here Neutral

IME if someone hits you or is at fault its best to tell your insurance co of the accident but claim from the 3rd party. Process is a lot simpler all in, and avoids you paying any ncb on either side and your legally entitled to be put back in the position you were before the accident be that repair or replacement of equal nature.

Having been hit a few times over the years and 2 within 12 months at no fault of my own I've learned the easiest way is to just claim from the otherside web they admit liability which shouldn't be a problem in your case Smile

Rural will end up footing the bill unless you claim on your own insurance as a self inflicted accident but the payout for yours will hammer your premium at renewal I bet Sad

Sorry to see that, it looks a right mess! However these accidents do happen quite easily on a farm. I've seen them happen on our neighbours farm where the farmers son hit the cab on a 2 week old tractor with the loader on another tractor as he didn't expect the tractor to be where it was.

I've got to agree with the others, if that were my car that was less then 2 years old being hit where that one has I doubt I'd want it back to be honest.

If it's been hit with force from machinery on the farm then the whole top of the car could be a few mill out of line as the other pillars could have been knocked as well. With that in mind if the worst ever happened and it rolled with you in it you've no idea if the other pillars would be as good as they were designed to be.

There's some cracking deals around on L322's at the moment as the new model has just hit the showrooms so hopefully you'll get a decent payout quickly and can get a nice shiny new car out of the troubles you're going to.

Got a phone call from Nationwide to say they have started the insurance assessment process and say that they will have to strip out the car fully ( seats carpets etc) to check for any structural damage. The bloke that spoke to me reckons they can pull back and straighten the pillar and push up the roof and it should be ok Shocked the cost of the parts on a quick glance of the visible damage is at least £5000++...he reckons all in circa £20,000 to repair and as the car has a min book value of £41000 he feels that the go ahead for repairs will be given next week... I don't think I have much say in this but feel even more apprehensive about driving a car that must have a weakened structure particularly if all they intend doing is pulling back the pillar Shocked Shocked

Been in this situation before, it was NINE months of sheer hell which ended up with me finally rejecting the repair based on many factors. If possible try and speak to someone higher up the chain. The monetary 'value' should not affect the possible physical issues which may appear after they have repaired it (as an example mine was a re-chassis of a Ford Explorer back in 1998, no-one had done in the UK before, on first delivery of many the interior cubbies would't latch, the windscreen did not fit properly (I kid you not) and everyhting just seemed .... off) Land Rover Addict
