Drivers Lock - Key

Hi All,

I tried using the ignition key in the driver's door (2003 Vogue FFRR). It goes in and turns but it doesn't lock / unlock the door. I tired the spare key and that's the same. Both keys operate in the vehicle ignition OK.

I didn't really think much of it but then thought that if the only way of getting into the vehicle is via the remote plipper then what would I do in the event of a flat battery?! (which let's face it, is a very real prospect in a FFRR!)

Any thoughts from anyone?

Hi,

Yes - Both standard key and spare both turn in the lock barrel but nothing happening.

I guess that this is therefore something wrong in the lock.

As mentioned, I dread to think what I would do if battery went flat as the other door has a blanked off key hole.

Next job is to take the door card off then............Ho hum, I was hoping there was a much more simple explanation! 2006 4.2 SC

Hi Skot,
I had exactly this problem on my 2005 car. Dealer fixed it and told me that there is a link arm between the lock barrel and the locking mechanism within the door and that it had become detached. Sounds simple enough to fix once the inside door panel has been removed, and that is never as simple as it looks. Good luck. Smile
