Hi, can anyone help or advise please. I've got a 2003 RR, with both door mirrors moving out of alignment everytime the door is closed. Incredibly frustrating! On further inspection it would seem that the hinge it uses to move the the whole mirror is "loose". Does this mean new door mirrors? Or is there a cheaper solution?

Had similar on a 2003 Vogue stock car recently and there is no cure other than live with it or replacement. Local Land Rover Indy took it apart and reported.

Hi flipper, I believe there is a fix but its theory at the moment and you also need to be sure your loose mirrors are due to a common failure and not just some loose bolts.......

The common failure is inside the mirror motor housing, the motor is held inside a die cast case and has two lugs to stop the mirror rotating round the motor and they break causing your symptoms.

One of mine has just started to be loose, I’ve fortunately sourced a spare motor that is in perfect working order to replace the loose one and when I get my old motor out I aim to use it to see if my theory works for a fix, which is cheap considering the price of these mirrors new or second hand

The fix which I will attempt once I get the time and the weather improves is to replace the broken pins with a very small piece of thread once I’ve drilled and tapped the motor casing. This tread will also be tread locked in place, could be a cheap fix.

PM me if you need advice on dismantling your mirror, it’s not too tricky you just need to be brave as there is a lot of plastic

I had this on mine when i got it. Turned out if you remove the cover underneath there are 4 torx screws holding the motor in place. They just needed tightening up and all done. Might be a simple fix. As it happens my pax mirror has just thrown its hand in so needs to be stripped and I'm assuming pins fixing. If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

Mines only loose through a small part of its travel. But when I put them in the drivers flys straight back out the pass waits a moment and goes back out. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

if its loose screws happy days..........if its not then this could be the culprit

Thank you to everyone for your response, to my floppy door mirrors. Once the weather improves I shall take advice and report back. However, if the weather doesn't improve, I won't need a Range Rover, I'll need an ark!
