I was told you just notch the bottom of the air filter housing. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

you may have a point there , i guess if its notched you can allways fibre glass it over to tidy it up and to keep it sealed 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Or leave it open to get that induction roar, I believe you can get a K&N to go in and they are designed to be used in the open, not inside an airbox so a small notch in the bottom of the box will be fine. Aternatively fit a universal K&N cone filter or you may be able to heat the air box up and 'mould' the notch in by hand, im doing mine soon so will report back. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

i am doing mine over christmas- i think i have all the bits , contacted k&n they said they dont do an induction kit but there may be a suitable cone filter to match the intake pipe size 1990 3.5 v8 defender

bought my 2004 ffrr with 2007-9 supercharged conversion done - whoever did it put k&n cone air filter in - its working okay however i would like to put the filter inside a box as I'm sure it sucks in hot air which has a negative effect on both the performance and fuel economy

I have measured air temps on many cars on our dyno and do you know what sometimes its hard to find a diff with cold air kits etc, problem is you can feed as much cold air to the filter as possible but it then has to travel down a varying length of pipe (normally black) heating up all the way, its relatively easy to aim a pipe at the filter that is picking up cold air from outside the car if it bothers you. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
