Car hire excess waiver rip off

Well as im not driving to Meribel we will likley be renting as im refusing to pay £500 for some chump to try and drive us 2.5hrs there and 2.5hrs back when i can rent, fuel and toll charge a car for a lot less!

Question I have to the regular car renters out there is if there is a way to avoid the rental companies trying to put a block on £1500 on a credit card?

I'll be using one of the UK based excess insurance companies anyway incase anything did happen because im loathed to pay £15 a day for such things as its nearly the price of the rental when a UK ins co will cover me for it IF its claimed. IE when i return the car if there is a TINY mark somewhere they take the lot until its sorted and i can claim this back. But is there a way to prevent this big chunk of cash being blocked on a credit card as im guessing all they really do is take the money off it, and earn a few days interest on it and then put it back on the card??

Any help anyone? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have used "economy car hire" twice this year abroad. British based. Their insurance covers everything, even lost keys, misfueling, even damage underneath. I did feel a bit more secure, because I hate the feeling that I am gonna get ripped off when I take the car back because they might find the smallest defect.
If you are interested I have a 10% code.. Pm me. Previously..

I can't drink anywhere near what I used to even though I hardly drank much, but now my kidneys and guts are slowly shutting down 6 days on the trot will be more like 3 or 4 with nights off in between. Otherwise 1 week in Switzerland could be 2-3 with the extra enjoying the health care system Sad had enough of the UK system this year to not want to start off next year like that! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
