The L322 owners manual ( 2002) , warns you not to use a phone with a built in aerial, inside of the vehicle, as this may cause electrical problems. I asked my Indie, who was workshop manager for Land Rover in Portugal, and had visited the factory for training when the 2002model arrived, if this was true, and he said he'd experienced one case like this, where the factory stated that the electrical problems were due to protracted cellular phone usage whilst inside the vehicle, with motor running. I had a passenger once who after a long conversation, I imagined that my airco was not operating correctly. However it rectified itself after a long interval parked and then turned on ignition again.

If I'd still be living in Amsterdam, I would certainly take your advice on life jackets under the seats etc, BUT a far better course of action would be to enrolled them into one of the MANY courses, on how to escape from a car, sinking under water in a canal or lake.Much more practical? It 's ALREADY off as I 'm driving the FFRR. Do you? If in the defender it 's off too- I don't want to talk and drive, especially when practicing my defensive driving here, trying to stay alive a little longer. Many twists and turns here where I drive, and usually short trips- nothing urgent that requires cell-phone on in the vehicle. A friend of mine was recently "caught"on the motorway using her cellphone, luckily she was in a British registered vehicle, which was right hand drive! Rather embarrassing for the cops on realising their mistake. Range Rover Vogue TD6 2002

Phone always on and I'll use the Bluetooth, so I don't need to touch the phone |

I think the manual says don't use a phone with it's own built in aerial. When using Bluetooth, is the phones aerial by-passed?I'm not into electronics so could someone give a simple explanation of how Bluetooth works as opposed to a cellular phone not on Bluetooth but with an built in antenna of it's own.?
